1. It's past 1 AM and I'm still awake~

2. It's so cold right now let me tell you. The heater is on and I have a sweater on and I'm still shivering. No way am I trekking all the way to campus tomorrow (er later today) in this cold for just one class.

3. Oh and I finally defriended the Poupee community. Seriously fuck that noise, too many of the members get on my nerves, but they're the most members so it's hard to escape them. And nothing of value was lost.

4. Also, also: I've starting watching TV again. Just one show though (Mad Men). I watched one episode on the weekend a while ago and finally found some downloads and finished the first season. I should make a post about that some day, and posts for the some j-dramas I've been watching too.

5. Finally I went grocery shopping this morning and in the dog section I found this chew toy:

FUCK YEAH GUMBY. BUT WHAT THE HELL GUMBY IS TOO GOOD TO BE A DOG TOY.

Back story: Gumby is my childhood hero. He's the main character in a series of claymation shorts made between the 60s and 80s I believe. They only showed them on cable though so I only got to watch the episodes that my mom bought me on VHS. Gumby was part of the reason I liked reading so much when I was younger, he had the power to travel into books! I started watching some episodes on YouTube and I never realized how weird it was. This episode was always my least favorite. The kid at the end gave me nightmares.

It still creeps me out.

Ahhh I'm killing time at work browsing [info]aramatheydidnt . I never knew [info]ohnotheydidnt had so many spin-offs. I'm a huge liar offline when I say that I don't like celeb gossip because it's actually really addicting.

I don't care how nerdy and sad it is, I'm going to buy the hell out of this figure.

Past couple of days have been pretty bad. Having to deal with shitty trucker drivers at work (though it's not as bad as when I worked retail) and my mom's been getting on my case a lot too. We work opposite schedules so I only see her Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday in the morning, but she saves everything she's been wanting to whine to me about for those few hours. :/ Maybe I'll feel better later because I don't see her tomorrow (ha).

Finished my second week of classes, I only have one class on campus so at least I get another semester where I can get a decent sleep!
Class stuff )

Gotta get up early tomorrow to take my car to Grease Monkey yet again $#%$. I hate that car so much right now, I'd get a new if I could afford to. This weekend I hope to catch up to all the animu shows I'm watching. Durarara!! is the only good one airing right now though, I'll probably end up watching older shows again--btw Princess Tutu is the best girly anime I've watched in a long time, more people should watch it D<

Other than that I need to keep grinding away on that dumb Poupee Girl DS game. I'm trying to get 1000 items because I want the bunny incentive item but it's really really time consuming. I don't even know Japanese so I'm constantly clicking to get through all the dialogue and hoping I pick the right choices so I get more ribbons and clothes, it's more of a chore honestly. I still don't really know how the game works though. I think the whole point is to pick the right choices in the dialogues so you befriend the NCPs but I think I made wrong decisions so most of them are mad at my poupee (well that's what I think since the messages I get from them are filled with sweatdrops and sad faces and they stopped giving me stuff).

I finished cleaning but instead of doing homework I decided to get caught up with Kamen Rider W (oh boy what a great start to the new semester). And...it's actually a good show and I'm really, really enjoying it so far. I liked the idea of Decade, but I feel I couldn't enjoy it because I haven't seen every Heisei Rider show and it's hard to like the riders in the other worlds because they are nothing like their original counterparts and are only around for a few episodes. I've also heard that the main story doesn't kick until like 2/3rds of the way through and it ends in an awful cliffhanger and you have to wait to watch the movie(s) to get any kind of closure to the story. W however:
  • Plot starts from episode one. In the opening we're introduced to the mystery of Phillip and his ability. We're introduced to the villains already and it's neat how they're just regular humans. The Big Bads are some super rich family that work behind the scenes in the city and the public sees them as respectable benefactors. The monsters of the show are also just regular people that are found by the Big Bad's company that gives them their powers. Although Den-O was one of my favorites, most of the series was focused on random monsters until the big bad shows at the last minute, and he turns out to be a really lame character.
  • Characters are likable. In Kabuto, Tendou was too cocky and even after the show ended I didn't like his character. Again, I loved Den-O but Ryotarou was frustrating to watch at first because he was too much of a wimp. Shotaro is a nice balance. He's a nice guy but still takes his job seriously. It's endearing to see him running around pretending to be a hard boiled gumshoe in a city decidedly lacking noir appeal. Akiko is annoying at first but she turns out to be semi-useful later and even gets her own "crowning moment of kick ass". Phillip, well, he's still growing on me but sometimes he can be funny in a deadpan kind of way. I also like that he has a sort of deep voice, it caught me off guard when I first heard him because his actor looks like 12 or something. Even the villains are kind of likable; Wakana is a hilariously cliched bitch at the beginning, but her change of her heart doesn't feel forced, and episode 17/18 made me like Kirihiko a lot...T_T
  • World building! W actually keeps up with noir themes like the city as a character. Though the city of Fuuto is a clean, green semi-futuristic city, there's still that seedy, corrupt underbelly. There's also a nice visual aesthetic going on with all the windmills and wind chimes.
  • The forumla works. The 2-episode story structure gives room for a more in-depth mystery. It's also fun to see the different kind of Gaia Memories in each story.
  • After seeing it in action, W's gimmick works and I like that they do multiple form changes through the battle to match the situation.
  • The jazzy soundtrack is nice, and the opening is way too catchy.
Man, I spent way too long typing this up.

I just found out that the Shugo Chara manga ended (like last month) so I did some speed reading to get caught up. And man what a shitty ending. Guess I'm just mad because my favorite pairing wasn't canon in the end. Or maybe I'm getting too old to enjoy these little girl mangas because I kept thinking throughout that Ikuto is just waay too old for Amu. She's like 10 or something he's 16-ish. And to think I actually regretted selling my manga a few weeks ago.

Oh and this weekend was a complete waste. I wasn't able to do any homework or cleaning yesterday because I got cramps of death and was in bed for hours and my heating pad stopped working. I don't think I'll finish it all today either, thank god it's only the first week so there's not to do.

I just spent $60 on my books for this semester. One textbook was $50 and the rest were bunch of paperback books I bought used for only cents.

Feels good man.

It's so painfully slow at work today. I should have brought my laptop so I could at least do some work for my online classes. Instead I've been playing around on poupee for hours.

Everytime I think I'm getting bored of this game a new event comes out with a lot of stuff I like. I don't even want to think about the Valentine's Day event, I have such a weak spot for cute things I might end up spending money again.

Had my first class today, which was fun but I don't have time to be running around the zoo so I dropped it as soon as I got home. I would've left early but that would have been rude and the lecture had cool videos. :X Oh and this bitch stole my computer in the lab. I got up to print something and when I got back she had taken it (I didn't even log off) fffff At least I got my schedule finalized. I probably won't take that history class since I'm waitlisted at 7 and the professor isn't increasing the course enrollment size. I guess I could always take it next semester.

ALSO, my neighbor's german shepherd had puppies and oh god I seriously want to steal one because they are so frickin cute.

My supervisor didn't come in today (yet he gave me shit when I came in sick and asked for the next day off so I could rest) and no one bothered telling me so for about half an hour I was running around inside the warehouse looking for him. Thanks a lot guys.

But besides that, I got my doujin order today yay~ I think I got it on Saturday actually but everyone forgot to check the mailbox. Anyway, it's still good because I wasn't expecting to get it so fast. I shouldn't be spending money, especially on shit in another language, but when I saw that one of my favorite artists was going to Comiket 77 my first reaction was "oh god I need all her stuff right now" (=´∇`=) The nice person that picked up my doujin was even able to me the limited edition stuff like the bag, postcard and cd-rom with wallpapers on it. Never paid much attention to these conventions before but now I noticed that a lot of artists I like go to them and it's so much cheaper to just pay a shopping service to get your stuff for you than to buy it second-hand from an online store that jacks up all the prices. There's also a ton of stuff that never gets sold outside of those conventions either. For comiket 77 there were doujins for series that I didn't think had a fandom in Japan (like Watchmen).

Noo I can't get addicted to this now...
...and then there's school tomorrow. I'm pretty much praying right now that I get into that online history class so I can drop that Tuesday/Thursday class but it's really starting to look like that won't be happening. :(

12 January 2010 @ 06:02 pm

It's very slow at work right now. So slow I went through and made some changes to my schedule. Classes I'll be taking starting next week:

  1. History of Psychology - A required course so I figured I'd get it out of the way now. I've had the professor that's teaching this before and he's really nice. The last class I took with him (Child Psychology) was easy and I got an A but according to him and a bunch of other people this course is supposed to be really hard...so we'll see. Also my only friend in college is taking this class as well. We've been planning classes together since last year so we always end up in at least course together so we can complain to each other. How sad, I used to know a bunch of other people when I started but they all had different majors so I never see them anymore. :(
  2. Intro to Animal Behavior - Might drop this one. It's a Tuesday/Thursday class and History of Psychology is a Monday/Wednesday class and honestly I'm too lazy to get up everyday to go to class (would also rather spend those extra days doing stuff for online classes so it leaves the weekend open for errands/cleaning). Also, I've been trying to take Psychology courses that appeal to me and maybe what I want to do if I ever go to grad school, and studying animals aren't really it. The professor also has already emailed us with some info about the various projects we have to do throughout the semester, all of which involve running around the zoo (do not want).
  3. Physical Geography - Need this for a core requirement whooo. At least it's an online course. I've felt that for a lot of these basic intro classes it's pointless going to to class since most of the material is exactly the same as what's in the textbook.
  4. American History to 1876 - Another core requirement/online course. I would have like to take a World History class since I skipped that in high school but there weren't any that fit in my schedule. Now that I think about I forgot pretty much everything from my AP US History class...
  5. World at War 1914-1945 - Ugh, I'm waitlisted at number TEN in course and I really really want to take it. :( Another online course so people don't drop these as much. I really hope the professor lets in the waitlisted people in. Jan 25th is the last day we're allowed to drop courses without paying a fee so hopefully some people will drop before then.

So that's about it. Maybe I'll make more changes once school starts because I have to take 4 classes now. I finally got some insurence but since it's under my mom at her job I have to be a full-time student to qualify. The one at my job doesn't require that but its hella expensive--$180 every two weeks and my mom's is only $90 a month for one person! Yeah, I would rather just take an extra class than pay out of the rear end for mediocure coverage. At least I can finally go the dentist now. I know it sounds funny but it's been over a year and half and since I last went and I feel soo dirty. D:

What luck, my car's battery dies just before I have to go to work. My mom was home though so she could take me. At least this happened before I started school though, I'll have time tomorrow to go buy a new one.

I keep checking my schedule but it looks I'll be stuck with only 3 courses this semester. So far I have a grand total of 67 credit hours...out of the 120 I need to graduate. 2 1/2 years in and I'm barely halfway through. Summer classes here I come. >_

I accidently choose the "EMS" option for shipping from this one Japanese site. I ordered two days ago but didn't notice because it's one of those stores that calculates shipping after they get all your items. Finally realized my mistake after checking my bank statement. Nothing like paying $40 for shipping for something that cost $25. It's too late to email them back (and how would I anyway?). And after making that post yesterday about how I want to be limit my purchases....at least I'll get my items super fast? :(

The other one was nice but I wanted something simpler. Too bad it looks weird on my office's computer (looks fine on my laptop though hmmm). I'm also going to make my own moodset, but I have to wait until the weekend to use the desktop in our living room to scan and edit the images on photoshop. I tried doing on my laptop but Paintshop seriously sucks and now I know why I never bothered reinstalling it on the new computer after getting Photoshop. The only nifty tool it has is the image slicer that spits out an HTML code afterwards. When I used to make websites it was useful because I could code a frame or iframe layout in seconds.

Exactly 12 more days until classes start again and I'm still waitlisted for all of my online classes. Hurry up and drop them people!

Snow snow and more snow. Reading other people's entires makes it seem like it's cold/snowing everywhere. Sucks so hard because tomorrow I have to make some trips to pick up my new furniture~ I got a new desk, TV stand and a dresser, but none of it really matches because I just got the cheapy individual ones rather than spending more money on a nice matching bedroom set. My mom got kind of mad that I suddenly decided to redecorate my room (she says I've been turning it into a mini-apartment ever since I got cable in there so I pretty much never leave except when I go to work/school) I think she wants me to move out already :'D

While cleaning my room over the week in preparation for the new stuff I'm getting I realized that I have a ton of junk. I was wondering how I was going through so much money and it's because I immediately buy anything online that I like or I go shopping to help cheer myself up. I donated two huge garbage bags filled with shoes, clothes and bags that I never used to Goodwill over the weekend. And I think when I get home I'll just block whatever shops I usually visit so I'm not tempted to buy more. At least I don't waste so much money and anime/manga anymore.

New semester starts in two weeks. Not really looking forward to it since I haven't finalized most of my classes. I want to take half on campus and half online but it's been getting harder as my pool of classes to pick from gets smaller. At this rate I might end up taking only 2 next semester and then just one over the summer. At least last semester I did decently in my classes. I'll make a post on that later. I want to try to use this journal more often this year even though my life has been pretty much the same routine for the past two years.

Aww crap I ended sleeping past midnight. You see I had to work today from 6 to 5, so when I came home and started getting sleepy I figured I could take a nap and be able to wake up before midnight. Well it's 4 AM now. :'D This hasn't happened since I was like 5 and was too young to stay up that late. Guess I should have set an alarm. Oh well, Happy New's Year Day I guess?

Boo and now my room smells because I was eating in my room before falling asleep and left the plates on my desk. :(

Woooo Merry Christmas to anyone that celebrates it.

I spent the entire day helping my mom make tamales and they're still not done yet. I got hungry so I just ate some ham before opening my presents. I got a motorized coin sort machine and a snuggie. WTF. At least almost everyone liked the presents I got them though. :)

I suck at this gift giving thing. I ended up spending more on clothes for myself than on presents for my family. Also, shopping for parents is really hard. They get mad if I don't get them anything, but when I do buy them something they always ask how much I paid and get mad if it was something expensive. :/

I should be gone from work by now but it looks like I'll be here another 45 minutes. D: First shift didn't finish all their loads so they pushed the leftover work onto second shift. Those jerks.

Also, my professor totally noticed that I left the essay question blank and wrote a huge question mark next to it with a note "what happened?". Now I feel bad, I'll do better next time though.

Reading the spoilers for the Persona 3 Portable game makes me want to play it even more now. D: Nevermind the fact that I haven't even finished the PS2 version. ffff I just want to date the guys, the girls in this game are so annoying except for Mitsuru.

Uhh so hope everyone is having a good Halloween. I ate some pizza earlier and it got me kind of sick so I'm just chilling in my room while my mom gives out the candy to the trick-or-treaters. Boo, I actually came up a last minute costume because I wanted to do that.
